Smart animals – from parrots to people – eat seeds. Seeds are incredibly rich in essential fats, minerals, vitamin E, protein and fibre. You need a tablespoon a day for 100% health. Here’s the Optimum Nutrition Institute’s magic formula.
Take a glass jar that has a sealing lid and half-fill it with flax seeds (rich in omega-3), then fill the remaining half with a mixture of equal parts each of sesame, sunflower and pumpkin seeds (rich in omega-6).
Keep the jar sealed and in the fridge to minimize damage from light, heat and oxygen.
Put a handful of the seed mixture in a coffee/seed grinder or mortar and pestle, grind up and put a tablespoon on your cereal or smoothie. Store the remainder in the fridge and use over the next several days.
